The Regional Studies Association has, in partnership with the Directorate-General for Regional Policy, arranged a special session for Early Career Researchers (those doing a PhD or within 3 years of viva) to present their work, in the form of a poster. This is to take place at DG-Regio's Open Days event from 4-7 October 2010.

This is the 8th Open Days event and is part of the European Week of Regions and Cities, to be held in Brussels. Together with the EU institutions, more than 200 regions and cites will contribute to a programme of 100 seminars, workshops, debates, exhibitions and networking opportunities for around 6,000 participants. So, a great opportunity for you to get your research 'out there' and seen by a wider audience! The fact that it is in the form of a poster, rather than a formal academic paper, is a real bonus.

You can find further details here - including details of prizes! Click the image above to go directly to the European Commission's web pages on this. There's also information about the structure of the competition, some very useful guidelines, and details of the jury.

This really is an excellent opportunity for Early Career Researchers since it will allow you to reach a very important audience - and the first prize is €750 with €250 for the runner-up.
