There has been a lot of interest in the EU budget recently, and for good reason. It can be difficult to understand the process, where the money goes and how we know what it does. For those of us concerned with regional policy and related issues, it is of course of real interest. To make it easier to understand, the BBC produced this simple graphic (below - click to go to the web page):

The complexity of the EU budget is hardly a secret, though. That's why the EU are keen to let people know all about it - hence this video...

The budgeting process may not be complete just yet but it's useful if we understand the background to it and also how to find out where all the money goes. You can check the EU pages for more on this, look at the data for 2011, or explore the draft budget in German, English or French... though there are a few hundred pages!

If you're too busy for all this, just go to the EU budget 'at a glance' page (you might need more than a glance, but it's a good place to start).
