At the Newcastle International Conference, the organisers offered several of the resident high-brow intellectuals the opportunity to play football (see above). Many brave souls rose to the challenge and fun was had by all. Overall, the quality of play was extremely high, fitness levels were just short of Olympic standard and those who were not there will never know the truth!

The RSA blog's very own sports photographer was in attendance and the following snaps are the result (for those on Facebook, you may already have seen these). It should be noted that these photos do not necessarily capture the grace, elegance and skill which the participants displayed during the games...

Fun was had by all. The Blue Team came away claiming the bragging rights, though this may have been disputed by the Yellow Team. Perhaps scores will have to be settled at Delft 2012...

Thanks are due to Pedro Marques for organising the tournament and to the Richardson lads for providing a touch of class and some local expertise.
