Here at the Regional Studies Association, we are extremely proud to announce that one of the RSA's long standing friends and members, Professor Mark Hart was awarded the Queen's Award for Enterprise Promotion. The award comes in recognition of his over 35 years of activity in researching and teaching in the area of SMEs and entrepreneurship.

Mark was Chair of the Regional Studies Association from Feb 1994 to November 1997. He also took a three year stint as Chair of the Journals Publications Committee, and is currently a member of the RSA Research Committee.

Andrew Beer, RSA Chair, says: "It is my considerable pleasure to congratulate Professor Hart on this richly deserved award. Professor Hart was a dynamic and resourceful Chairman of the Association who oversaw saw major initiatives that continue to shape the RSA. It was under his Chairmanship, for example, that the Association held its first conference in Europe. On behalf of all members I pass on the congratulations of the entire Association and acknowledge his considerable contribution to regional and enterprise research. "

Sally Hardy, RSA Chief Executive, says: "I am so pleased that Mark's work in the field of enterprise has been recognised. Mark has been a colleague and friend for more than 25 years. One of his outstanding characteristics is his generosity - of spirit, of time and of commitment. He was on the Board of the RSA when I joined the organisation and has worked consistently to support the RSA on top of his full research load in his institution. He really deserves this public recognition of his contribution and the RSA congratulates him."

Congratulations Mark!
